Meet the Principal

My name is Megan Hamburgh and I am the proud principal of Westar Elementary School in the Liberty Elementary School District.  I am deeply passionate about igniting learning and hold a steadfast belief that all students are capable of success—no exceptions. As a school leader, my goal is to inspire, empower, and support our entire school community to reach new heights of success. I believe that when we believe in ourselves as a team, we can truly impact student outcomes in meaningful and lasting ways.

I grew up in a small town in California and later attended college in Washington, where I earned my degree in Elementary Education in 2005. That same year, my husband and I moved to Arizona to pursue our careers in education. I began my journey as a classroom teacher and remained in the classroom until 2012, when I transitioned into the role of instructional coach.

In 2015, I earned my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership with a principal focus from Northern Arizona University. I went on to serve as an assistant principal for four years before accepting my first principalship in 2020. Each step in my career has strengthened my commitment to instructional excellence, collaboration, and student-centered leadership.

Beyond my role as an educator, I am a proud parent of three kiddos, ages 16, 10, and 6, who continue to inspire me daily. I am honored to serve as principal and remain deeply committed to making a positive impact through leadership, partnership, and a shared belief in what is possible for every student.

As Brené Brown reminds us, “Daring leaders work to make sure people can be themselves and feel a sense of belonging.” This belief guides my leadership as I strive to create a school community where every student, staff member, and family feels valued, supported, and empowered.
